Yummy, yummy, yummy....

Well, I concede defeat. Actually, my boobs concede defeat! What I mean is, I have come to the conclusion that there is no way, that we alone, can keep Matthew full and satisfied until 6 months. Yes..... health nurses close your ears now.... I started Matthew on cereal. Not quite sure if I'm happy or sad about that!?! Happy because it's an exciting next step, I guess, but sad, because it's one more thing that makes him less of a "little" baby...

So, anyways... lately, Matthew has reverted back to newbornhood. He has been wanting to eat every 2 hours or so round the clock (3 hours or so at night)... for a while, he had been sleeping at a 6 hour stretch, but not anymore. So, they say that that's one of the signs. And around supper time, I can feed him and he'll immediately still be wanting more. That's another sign, I guess.

So, he got his first taste on Friday night. He took a baby spoonfull or two and licked his lips, but didn't seem too interested.

I tried again tonight. Well! It took about 5 spoonfulls and then he figured out what we were doing... this was food!!!!! Yipee!!! You'd have thought he'd never seen food before.... oh yeah, he hadn't seen food before... anyways... from that point on, he was opening his mouth like a little bird and babbling to me constantly! More than I've ever heard him talk! I think he was trying to tell me that it was about time that he got something real to eat! So, we finished the customary 1 tablespoon mixed with 3x the amount of formula, lickedy-split! So far so good, doesn't seem like he has a tummy ache!

So, I guess we're one more step down the road... we're going to take this one slow though. Only baby cereal for the next 6 weeks (until 6 months)... then we'll try the really good stuff. If Matthew things plain rice cereal is good, wait until he tries beans!! (well, maybe we'll go with peaches or carrots first :O)

Boy, Do I have lots to tell!

Hi everyone!

Wow, have I ever been a busy little guy! I have tons of stuff to tell you about!

First of all, my Mommy invited her friends from work over for lunch on Friday. It was lots of fun, but at first, I wasn't sure what to make of all the people that were in my living room! There were four other mommies and four other babies! I got a little scared and I didn't want to play on the floor. I just wanted my mommy to hold me. But, Mommy had to get the lunch ready for the other mommies, so I sat in my chair and watched everyone. Afterwards, when my mommy was in the living room, I played on the floor with the other babies! Here is a picture of all of us babies! (Clockwise from me is Elsa, (she's 3 months), Evan (he's almost 3 months), Koen (he's 5 months), and Taygan (he's just about 5 weeks)

I wasn't sure why Elsa wasn't very happy? Maybe it was because she didn't like being around all of us boys! So, I told her a joke and then she was happy!

On Saturday, my Mommy and Daddy took me to a place called the zoo! Mommy said that we will be able to come back lots of times, so I have my very own I.D. card. It even has my picture on it, see!

Here's me getting ready to go. I wasn't too sure about this zoo thing... but Mommy says it was going to be fun. We'll see...

But, it was fun!
We saw giraffes....

and gorillas...

and hippopotamususususes and elephants and tigers and all kinds of things! I got pooped out though and decided to have a nap halfway through! It was such a beautiful day that I just enjoyed the cool fall air!

I'm so glad that we went to the zoo, I can't wait to go again! For more pictures of my adventure, click here.

Well, I hope you all had a nice weekend too! Enjoy the fall colours like Mommy, Daddy and I are!

See you again,
Matthew

My Busy Bee...

It seems like since Matthew's turned 4 months old, he's turned into a completely different baby!

He has now learned that if you don't like something... just scream at the top or your lungs, or better yet.... just start crying at the top of your lungs, because Mommy is bound to change her mind about what she was trying to get you to do!

He now talks up a storm for sometimes an hour at a time while he's playing on the floor. I think he just likes to hear himself and see how loud he can actually get! It's quite funny to watch!

He's been trying out the jolly jumper, although he hasn't quite got the hang of "Jumping" yet. It's really either a little jig that he does, or he just lifts his feet up and figures that it's a pretty cool chair to hang out in! He especially thinks it's cool that you can watch the cat go from one side of the room to the other in the jolly jumper.

Speaking of cats... he's starting to take an interest in Token and Tia and they are being great with him! He always watched Token from his bouncy chair and when you hold him up to the cats, he likes to pet them and hold their paws. We of course do not let the cats visit unsupervised, but so far, they are being very gentle with him! Matthew accidentally grabbed Token's whiskers yesterday and Token didn't even blink.

As I type this, Matthew is on a blanket on the floor in our computer room.... eating his toes. Yes, when all the toys get boring, there's always your toes to keep yourself amused!

I promise to post more pictures soon!
Hope you all are well!

Erin and Matthew

Just Another Day at the Office....

Hi everyone!

I turned 4 months old today! Now that I'm getting bigger, I'm turning into a busy bee!

First, I practise my balance... Look no hands!

Then I get down to business... I must make something interesting out of this thing Mommy keeps giving me....

Here is the finished product!

Then... Mommy props me up all over the place and expects me to smile. You've gotta be kidding... I have to smile again????

Next, I have to keep the "Imaginationstation" up and running.. it's hard work you know!

"She's finally going to give me a coffee break!!!"

But, the days not over yet. Must do some fine tuning to the hangy things....

Stick out my tongue at Mommy once and a while....

And by the end of the day......

I'M POOPED!

My Two Little Feet

My baby is turning 4 months old tomorrow. He's not going to be a little baby much longer :o(

Last week, we went to see Grandma, Grandpa & Nan in Saskatoon. We flew with Westjet again. I certainly wouldn't fly with the other airline... Matthew already knows how to work the system... he smiles at all of the flight attendants during the trip and they all want to talk to him and hold him!

Our trip was great, but we both caught little colds once we got there. Probably from flying. It tends to happen to me, so I might have given it to him. None the less, we were fine in a few days!

We got home safe and sound last weekend.

Matthew has now decided that he doesn't care about any of his toys... he only wants to play with his feet all day! He gets frustrated when he has socks on, or when he has bulkly pants on that make it difficult to get his big toe into his mouth! Diaper changes have become fun, because he won't put his legs down long enough to get a diaper on! The minute those two little feet come out of the sleeper, they're right into his mouth. It's so cute!

If his feet aren't in his mouth, he's using them to try and stand up... no longer is it acceptable to sit in Mommy's lap. Oh, no, we have to stand all of the time now! (with Mommy holding me up of course). I guess the world has a completely different view when you're not looking at everything from the ground up!

Tomorrow we have to go see the evil needle lady (aka public health nurse) for shots again. Mommy's probably dreading them more than Matthew. He will only scream for a minute or two, but all moms know that that minute or two seems like hours :o( Hopefully he'll be fine afterwards though. Last time, they didn't seem to bother him for long. He probably knows he'll get carried around for the rest of the day and cuddled, so it's not such a big deal after all :O)

Guess What I can do!

Hi!

Boy, I had a busy week! First of all, Mommy bought me a new blankie... I love it! It's fuzzy on one side and smooth on the other! I had another blankie that I really like, but Mommy says that because it was knitted, it will never last for the next ?? years. She said she is speaking from personal experience, and so that blankie has to be for special times. This blankie will be my everyday blankie. Here is a picture of me with my blankie!

This week, I also had my very first bath in the big tub! I'm almost too big for my little tub because I kick my feet so much that none of the water stays in the tub! Mommy says I'm too little to bath in the big tub by myself yet, but if she holds me, it's ok! I had lots of fun! My legs floated like a fish while she held me!

Two days ago, I discovered that I have feet! Now, I like to grab on to them whenever Mommy changes my diaper. Mommy was all excited that I could grab my feet. I'm not sure why? They're just feet after all. I've known that they were there all along, they just didn't seem as interesting until now. Mommy says there is a special part in my baby book to write the date down that I found my feet!

Then today, Mommy came into my room to get me from my nap, and I was on my tummy! She doesn't know how I got there because I haven't rolled over by myself yet. I'm not sure that I want to roll over all of the time yet, so don't tell Mommy that I know how!

Well, I'm off to Saskatoon to see my granparents tomorrow. I get to fly on the big plane again! Yay!

Love,
Matthew
