Beaches and BBQ's

We decided to stay home this long weekend. We had thoughts about going to Banff, but when you only think of it a few days before the weekend, you pretty much won't find anywhere decent to stay.

So, we're just going to hang out here and enjoy the nice weather. Today was beach day. Matthew loves going to the beach. I'm not so much of a hot weather person. About an hour in the hot sun (well, actually in the shade under a huge beach umbrella) and I've usually had enough.

Today, the water was actually quite warm in the lake. Matthew loved walking up and down the shore with Daddy. He isn't afraid of the water one bit, which makes me think we need to start taking his life jacket with us. He wanted to keep walking in further and further, and thought it was really funny when we dragged him around like a dolphin in the water.

Summer is for bbqing, so tonight's supper was all on the bbq, thanks to my fancy new bbq gadgets... a fish turner thingy, so we cooked rainbow trout on the bbq. And a basket for cooking veggies in. We also did corn on the cob on the bbq. Who knew that you could put the cobs on just like that (not in their husks) and they still turned out quite juicy!

We gave Matthew some corn off the cob for his supper, but once he saw Mommy and Daddy eating it off the cob, he figured that was how he should do it too!
